Chell "Wensta" Johnson (known as Chell Shepard in Opposing Force 2: Chell Shepard's Revenge), or Test Subject #1498 is a character you always play as, independent from the game you play (even Halo 3 suits here).

What is known is that Chell Johnson, while still being an infant, was in a car crash where James and Lily Potters died and then she used the prototype portal gun to escape the car. (The lightnings were green in 1986 as opposed to the yellow of 3002.) Her talent was later discovered by her former grandmother and used through Portal and Portal 2.
